PlaneBook has been updated to a modern, user-friendly interface, including new and enhanced capabilities around document management.
Some highlights include:
ONE-TIME AUTHENTICATION
Log in during the initial setup, or after a password change, otherwise users are no longer required to enter username and password each time the app is used.
AUTOMATIC UPDATES
To minimize the burden on users this version has implemented automatic updates to subscribed content. This feature can be suppressed by the user at times when there is a bandwidth concern.
DOWNLOAD STATUS
The app provides immediate awareness of downloaded content and revision level including the last date and time the app checked for updates.
NOTIFICATIONS
There is a new notification center available in PlaneBook. A notification Icon(Bell) – There is now visual queue informing users a notification is available to review. The Bell Icon represents a one stop notification center and when that bell badge has a red dot affixed, its an indication a notification is available for review. Upon review of the notification that red dot will disappear from the badge. Users will be notified when there is a new subscription available, for subscription expiration information and for password expiration information.
FAVORITES
Users now have the ability to favorite documents inside of PlaneBook. Documents that have been favorited will have a star icon to the left of the document name. They may remove that favoriting by using the elipses button, in the same manner they added the favorite.
IMPROVED GLOBAL SEARCH
This version pivots to one search function which covers CAS and keyword searches across all content within a model, results are organized by criticality and by document name.
SIDEBAR NAVIGATION and SCROLLING CHANGES
Within the documents, a slide out sidebar menu offers options for search, bookmarks, table of contents, and links recently viewed documents. To enable this feature, prepare for future content format changes and match the method by which content is almost universally interacted with outside of Planebook, this app has switched to a vertical scroll between pages. Users are able to elect to perform a continuous scroll or a paginated scroll. This setting is easily changed within the reader.
MyDOCS
User-added document and content functions have been improved in this version of PlaneBook to include expansion to leverage the iOS Files application. This allows the user to link to content from cloud services, such as company OneDrive, iCloud or Dropbox services. Any content linked to PlaneBook may also be placed in collections for even more flexibility when organizing content. In addition, MyDocs will support pictures, Microsoft office files, pdfs and certain video formats.
COLLECTIONS
Collections enable users to collocate both subscribed and MyDocs content. The concept is similar to music playlists, allowing rapid access to information organized to suit the user’s individual needs and preferences. Users can name, edit, and duplicate these lists to manage their content needs.
